The History Of Free Salvation Missionary Baptist Church
On April 4, 1976 (Palm Sunday), Rev. Winfield Phillips and 16 baptized believers came together on one accord and Free Salvation M.B. Church was founded and established. Our house of worship was then in a small storefront located at 7431 South Chicago Avenue. Rev. Phillips chose his first official board on that day, with Bro. Louis D. Jones- Chairman of Trustees, Bro. Leslie Jackson as Chairman of Deacons and Sis. Betty Phillips as Church Secretary.
The following Sunday being Easter Sunday more believers came, giving GOD their hearts and Pastor Phillips their hands, this allowed other ministries to be formed. Brenda Jones- President of the Choir, Juanita Stewart- President of 1st Aid Auxiliary, Gwendolyn Allen- President of Ushers and Annie Lee- Superintendent of Sunday School.
In 2 1/2 years we outgrew our South Chicago home and the LORD provided the finances which enabled us to purchase a vacant funeral chapel at 1420 East 87th Street. However due to zoning issues we were forced to relocate, so Pastor Phillips being led

While on 87th Street many souls were called to the Ministry under Pastor Phillips namely: Rev. Louis D. Jones, Rev. Leslie Jackson and Rev. Ralph Jones, who all went on to Pastor their own churches. In July 1995 Rev. Phillips health placed him in the hospital, but GOD always has a ram in the bush named Rev. Derrick Branch. Rev. Branch now Elder Branch diligently served as overseer until the return of Pastor Phillips and is now Pastor of the Anointed Hands Christian Ministries C.O.G.I.C.

Minister Antonio Watkins had accepted their calling. Both were ordained receiving their titles, Rev. Victor Phillips and Elder Antonio Watkins and served as Co-Pastors under the leadership of GOD ALMIGHTY preaching and teaching GODS word without ceasing.
In December of 2008 Rev.Victor Phillips was installed as Pastor naming Elder Antonio Watkins as the Assistant Pastor. Looking back from 1976 until now we've seen many changes take place. From the leadership to the membership. We've gone through many hard times, we've weathered some rough storms. We know what tomorrow holds, but Thank GOD
we know who holds our hand. So, as we celebrate our 36th Year Anniversary, divinely guided by our Pastor, Victor Phillips we will continue to trust in the LORD for his word states, "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint"
